What does resort life mean in the Brainerd Lakes Area?
You’re just back from a vacation in central Minnesota’s Brainerd Lakes Area and a co-worker or neighbor asks you to describe your resort experience.
Where do you begin? I’m struggling with that question. WCCO-TV next Wednesday, on the first day of summer, wants to convey through stories and video, what the resort experience is all about in Minnesota. How do you boil down that much fun into a one-minute segment?
Do you talk about the great cabin experience, whatever that may be? Rustic cabin, modern townhouse, sleeping in luxury, sleeping in bunkbeds, sleeping in a hammock. You must talk about the lake views, the loons, the bonfires – how else can you get a vacation’s worth of s’mores if you dont’ have a bonfire?
So, speaking of lakes, you must mention fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming, tubing, skiing, and the lists goes on …
But that’s not all you enjoyed while on vacation. Do you mention mountain biking, visiting Paul Bunyan Land, racing your car down BIR’s drag strip?
And, of course, there is golfing. Do you talk about your game, the great courses, a first – hole-in-one, eagle, or birdie? But you keep that bogey, double bogey, and triple bogey to yourself!
Then, there is the food. You talk about eating out, grilling in. Burgers, brats, steaks. Watermelon, strawberries, and blueberries. Licorice chip ice cream! Again, the list goes on.
Really, how do you answer the question? Let me know. Tell me how you describe the resort experience. Remember too to tune in next week, Wednesday, June 20, at 5, 6, and 10 to see if WCCO can capture in pictures and words what’s on our minds about the great resort experience. – Kathi Nagorski, Communications Director.Tags: Brainerd Lakes lodging, Brainerd Lakes resorts, Brainerd Minnesota vacation, Crosslake resorts, Pequot Lakes resorts
