Brainerd Lakes Fishing Report April 15, 2013
There is still plenty of ice in the Brainerd Lakes Area, and the fish are biting! I will admit that I’m looking ahead to open water fishing however! You can no longer drive trucks or cars, but ATV travel is fine. Round Lake and 371 bay on North Long have been kicking out good numbers of crappies and sunfish.
We have been using smaller jigs tipped with wax worms, euro larva, or plastics. I like to start with plastics because they are less maintenance. The best depth seems to be 6-12 feet, and we have been fishing big weedy flats. Some lakes you can also sight fish, which is a blast!
Good luck and be safe! Thanks Capt. Tim Hanske
