Brainerd Lakes Area Fishing Report, July 14, 2014

Posted on: July 14th, 2014 by Brainerd Lakes Chamber

The walleye bite continues in the Brainerd area. Our primary focus has been on Gull Lake but Whitefish and North Long are putting out fish as well. Most of the mid summer spots with the good weed edges are putting out fish. This week we found our active fish in 14-19 feet of water. The mornings and evenings are the better times but we have had some good mid day action depending on the weather. A jig and fathead seem to produce more fish but you have to sort through some smaller ones to get the keepers. A rig with a leech or redtail is working as well though. Make sure you find them on the graph before you start fishing them otherwise keep looking.

Bass are biting on the deep weed edge and we are using rubber worms to get them to bite.

Pike have become very active on the weed edges this week and we have even had several grab hooked walleyes on their way up to the boat.
