Cash and In-Kind Sponsorships
Hosting the Governor's Fishing Opener is an outstanding opportunity to showcase the Brainerd Lakes Area as THE tourism destination in the Upper Midwest. That weekend in May, all eyes will be on the Brainerd Lakes Area, and we need to shine. Cash and in-kind resources are needed from sponsors to put on an impressive show for the media who will share their experiences back home, reaching millions of people through the power of media.
In 2001, we hosted nearly 200 members of the media, from as far away as Japan, Germany, England, Canada, Florida and Texas, all of whom shared their experiences with their readers. If they have a good experience, it's reflected in their coverage, which, of course, leads to increased tourism for the area.
Sponsorships at certain levels includes an invitation to most of the events, which are, for the most part, closed to the public. This is your chance to reward yourself or some of your employees, valuable customers, or someone else, by giving them an opportunity to take advantage of the festivities and fish with a local fishing host.
Sponsorship Levels
Platinum Walleye Level
$20,000 and over
- Full weekend package for eight (8) people – includes lodging, meals, admission to all official Governor’s Fishing Opener’s events, fishing and commemorative items.
- Priority sponsorship selection of a commemorative item
- Company banner at Friday’s community picnic event and Saturday’s shore lunch.
- Opportunity to provide sponsorship items in commemorative bag.
- Sponsorship identification on the official Governor’s Fishing Opener website
- www.mngovernorsopener.com. This includes logo, link to your website and up to a 20 word tag line and/or description.
- Sponsorship identification on local advertising, (print, and radio as scheduled), event posters and programs.
Golden Walleye Level
- $10,000.00 to $19,999
- Full weekend package for six (6) people – includes lodging, meals, admission to all Governor’s fishing opener events, fishing, and commemorative items.
- Sponsorship of a commemorative item
- Your company banner at Friday’s community picnic and Saturday’s shore lunch
- Opportunity to provide sponsorship items in commemorative bag
- Sponsor identification on local advertising, (print, and radio as scheduled), posters, flyers and programs.

- $5,000.00 to $9,999.00
