Baxter marks the start of the 77.6-mile paved Paul Bunyan Trail. The trail is utilized year round for outdoor recreational activities such as biking and snowmobiling. This level, paved trail which starts in Baxter, takes cyclists through the Brainerd Lakes Area communities and allows them to experience the Lakes Area from a completely new perspective. Three Baxter-based hotels are home to waterparks – Comfort Suites/Rapid River Lodge, Holiday Inn Express, and The Lodge at Brainerd Lakes. Each waterpark offers a unique theme but the same amount of fun can be had at all three.
Keep in mind that you don't have to be staying at one of the lodging establishments to enjoy the waterparks. The waterparks are open to guests of the hotel(s) and anyone else who is set to get wet. (Note that additional fees for admission apply if you are not a hotel guest.)
Food and beverages can be purchased at all waterparks for an additional fee. Lifejackets are also available. Waterparks are open year round and offer fun for people of all ages, but hours vary throughout the seasons.
