The Cuyuna Iron Range, 14 miles northeast of Brainerd, is made up of the towns of Crosby, Ironton, and Deerwood. Residents enjoy the 5,000 acre Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area which is the heart and soul of the Cuyuna Range. The crystal clear mine pit lakes provide unbelievable fishing, canoeing, kayaking and scuba diving along with miles of beautiful shoreline and scenery. The Cuyuna Range will soon be home to a world class mountain bike trail with construction scheduled to begin in spring 2009. While there is much to do outside, enjoy the antique shops in Crosby which has been coined the "Antique Capital of the Lakes Area." Enjoy local festivals including the renowned Oktoberfest held at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge. Strong industries include manufacturing and healthcare. The Hallett Community Center fulfills health club and recreational needs, while the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail system will one day connect to Aitkin, Brainerd, and the Paul Bunyan Trail.
