Grab your ice fishing gear and join in the world’s greatest ice fishing contest – the Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza on Gull Lake near Brainerd. This year’s event is Saturday, February 11, on Gull Lake on Hole-in-the-Day Bay. Join the more than 10,000 anglers as they vie for fabulous prizes, including a truck, all-terrain vehicles, ice fishing equipment and so much more!
Since 1990, this signature event of the Brainerd Jaycees has raised more than $1 million for Brainerd Lakes Area charities, especially Confidence Learning Center, and rallied thousands of volunteers.
In 2011, 150 prizes valued at a total of more than $150,000 were awarded to participants for fish ranging in size from a 7-pound northern to a less than half-pound perch. Even Gov. Mark Dayton, the first sitting governor to attend the event, discovered what thousands already know – the Extravaganza is a special one-of-a-kind event!
Make it a weekend in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Book your lodging today through Book Direct.
Complete event information can be found at icefishing.org, including details on the 2012 prize list, where to buy tickets, and more. During the event, you also can watch the leaderboard updates!
Tickets, event tickets as well as raffle tickets, also are available at the Brainerd Lakes Welcome Center. Stop in south of Brainerd on Highway 371 or call (218) 829-2838 for more information.
Join in the Kick-Off Party, from 6-9 p.m. Friday, February 10, at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa. This event sets the stage for the fishing contest! Enjoy beer and wine tasting by Cash Wise Liquors, appetizers by Grand View Lodge, live entertainment by Seth Doud, a silent auction, raffles, and so much more. Also visit with local fishing pros.
Good luck anglers!
